Councillors have a busy schedule throughout the year. From time to time, it is reasonable to expect that Councillors may not be able to be present at all meetings – while attending conferences or other municipality business, due to illness or vacations. On the other hand, it is important for voters to notice who is attending and whether there may be excessive absences.
The following chart notes the number of dates Councillors missed meetings as recorded in Council Minutes for Council/Committee of the Whole meetings, Public Hearings, and Special Council Financial Meetings for the following years:

Saanich Councillors Brice, Brownoff, Derman, Leonard and Wergeland have also been elected to represent Saanich on the Capital Regional District Board and its various committees. Key issues facing Saanich directors during this term have been Core Area Liquid Waste (sewage treatment and resource recovery), updating the Regional Growth Strategy to Regional Sustainability Strategy and the Regional Transportation Strategy.
